In addition to providing fashion frames, we also offer several frames whether you are looking for the lightest weight titanium technology, frames on a budget, sunwear, safety glasses, or even sports wear.
Spectacle Lenses: Our office believes in providing you with the best vision possible, and that includes making sure we are using the latest advancements in lens technology to ensure the clearest, sharpest image possible. Here is a list of some of our great lens options:
Anti-Reflective Treatment: Anti-Reflective, or AR, treated lenses are critical to providing you with the clearest vision possible. Untreated lenses prevent as much as 13% of light from entering your eye, which means you have to strain to see the image clearly. In addition, back surface reflections on an untreated lens can be distracting and lead to headaches and other displeasure with the eye-wear. Some premium AR brands you may recognize are Zeiss Purecoat, Crizal, or Teflon lenses.
Scratch Resistant Treatment: Protection against scratches is critical to the longevity of your eye-wear. Besides being distracting and preventing light from focusing properly in your eye, some studies have indicated that your lenses lose as much as 80% of their impact resistance with only one scratch on the back surface of your lenses. Our office provides new, advanced scratch resistant treatment with the resistance of glass lenses.
Photocromic Lenses: Photocromic lenses provide the comfort you seek for varying light conditions. Photocromic lenses automatically change from light to dark and back again depending on the amount of UV light. This helps reduce eye strain from bright sun light, and also helps to reduce reflections in your lenses.
Progressive Lenses: Progressive lenses provide you with the best optics if you are in a multifocal lens. Our progressive lens technology offers more than just the latest advancements in precision optics, but also provide you with the most natural lens designs to provide easy access to your prescriptions. We also offer progressive lens designs from leading manufacturers such as Zeiss, Varilux, Sola, Hoya, and Shamir.
Lens Materials: Spectacle lenses can be made of various materials. However, you should note that some materials are safer than others, and so you should discuss your lifestyle and how you plan to use your eyewear when deciding which material will work best for you. Your optician will use this information to make the best recommendation for you.
The video on the right side of the screen shows impact testing on various lens materials:
CR-39 is a standard "plastic" lens material. While it provides the best optics, you will notice that it not only broke, but shattered on impact.
1.60 is a "high index" plastic lens material. Though stronger, thinner, and lighter weight than CR-39, it has the same tendancy to shatter on impact.
Polycarbonate is an impact resistant lens material commonly found in safety eyewear. When worn for cosmetic eyewear, it also provides thinner, lighter weight lenses. Polycarbonate lenses are also shatter resistant (they tend to snap, chip, crack). If you look closely in the video, you will notice a small chip in the lens after impact. Polycarbonate is recommended for all children's eyewear. Trilogy is the name brand of a material called Trivex. Trivex lenses are similar to Polycarbonate, except that they are slightly more impact resistant, and provide clearer optics.
